The second week of my Freshman year at Grove City College I was in the Study Abroad office enthusiastically wondering what it would take to get me to Europe for a semester. The study abroad adviser laughed and told me I had plenty of time to figure things out, but she was glad I was looking into it now rather than too late.

I have never been to Europe before, but it has been a dream of mine to visit the places of unfathomably rich history that I have read about for so long. I am and English major with a German minor, and have a family history deeply rooted in Germany. I wanted to come to Germany not only to travel and learn a new culture, but to understand my heritage more deeply.

I am studying at Freie Universität in Berlin, Germany from January - April 2013. This is my experience.
